Serving on a committee or board of an organization provides an enhanced opportunity to learn, grow, participate, and contribute. As in other aspects of your life, the more you participate in organizations, the more you will receive. Participating fully will increase the rewards, satisfaction, and value that you experience from your membership.

As a committee or board member, you create more visibility for yourself while gaining new stature as a participant, contributor, and leader. You will be known as a giver, not just a taker. You will broaden your own hori- zons and expand your experience as a leader and networker. Participation through leadership provides a solid foundation for power networking.
