Stuart Jacobs, M.D.
Dermatologist, 26 years. Former instructor of dermatology, UC Davis Medical Center

Dr. Stuart Jacobs is a board-certified dermatologist, who has had a private practice of dermatology in Stockton for the past twenty-six years. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1972 and his postgraduate training in dermatology at he University of Michigan, as well. He was a clinical instructor of dermatology at UC Davis Medical Center and at San Joaquin General Hospital. Dr. Jacobs has been a speaker at St. Joseplh’s Medical Center, Dameron Hospital and at schools in the Stocktonarea, to educate bothe health professionals and the general public. Dr. Jacobs and his medical staff provide both traditional medical and surgical treatment of all skin disorders from common acne to difficult skin cancers. His office also provides the most up-to-date, comforable, non-invasive cosmetic and rejuvenating skin care treatments and skin care products.

Zhong Ling, M.D, Kaiser Permanente

Zhong Ling, M.D., a medical doctor with a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, is employed by Kaiser Permanente. He received his medical degree at the University of Connecticut Health Center. Dr. Ling received certification from the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Internal Medicine, and the American Board of Preventive Medicine. He completed a residency program in Occupational / Environmental Medicine, which offered a broad range of education: concentration was placed on occupational diagnostic, clinical, ergonomics and musculoskeletal disorders, industrial hygiene, toxicology, pre-employment exam, employee's health. Practicum sites included university-based occupational clinic, industrial occupational clinic, medical director's office in large insurance company, and state department of public health. Dr. Ling was born in China and is bilingual. He and his wife have a son and a daughter.

A strategic business paln should be a blueprint for the future. It should be an aid in managing and organizing your business; help you identify opportunities; and help you understand and manage the financial aspects of your business. In three words, your business plan should help you BE MORE SUCCESSFUL. Learn how to get started at the Creating a Successful Business workshop.

Gillian has been the Director of the San Joaquin Delta College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) since 1989, providing consulting, training and resources to the business community in a four-county region. Prior to her move to the SBDC, she was employed at the University of the Pacific. In 1997, the SBDC moved into the Chamber Incubator and assumed the Incubator’s management for the Chamber. Gillian holds a B.A. degree in Distributed Studies from Iowa State University and an MBA from St. Mary’s College in Moraga. Gillian is a former member of the Board of Stockton Women’s Network. She is a member of the Calaveras Women’s Network and Amador Women’s Network.
Gillian has received the following awards: Women’s Business Advocate award by the Small Business Administration; the Susan B. Anthony Woman of Achievement award by the San Joaquin County Commission on the Status of Women; and Women Helping Women award by Soroptimists International.

Karren is a Business Advisor for San Joaquin Delta College Small Business Development Center, whre she helps new and exisiting business with financial, marketing, production, organization and technical problems. Prior to her career as Business Advisor, she had 23 years experience in retail and importing: first as an executive as Macy’s California and then as a buyer and vice-president at Cost Plus Imports. Karren is past president of the Board of Stockton Women’s Network. She has served on numerous other Boards including Micke Grove Zoological Society, and Soroptimists International of Stockton. Karren is a member of and advisor to WESAH (Women Enterepreneurs Successful at Home). Karen received the Women Helping Women award by Soroptimists International; the Welfare-to-Work Associate of the Year award by the Small Business Administration and the Susan B. Anthony Woman of Achievement award by the San Joquin County Commission of the Status of Women.

Is This Home Environmentally Safe? ---- Charlie Aoun

Charlie Aoun, president of Charlie's Floors, Inc., is an expert on the topic of environmental issues in living and working spaces. He is called on frequently to testify in courtrooms across the country regarding mold, ventilation systems and other issues which affect living and working structures and human health. He has a contractor's license as well as an engineering degree from European Interior Design; he is a certified floor inspector; a member of the Institute of Inspectors for Carpet and Restoration Certification; a member of the World Flooring Assciation; a board member of the FCSI (Future Color and Style Insitute); and member of the Flooring America Association.

Charlie will discuss warning signs to look for when you are buying a home. He will make suggestions for choosing safe materials for those of us who are designing a new home or considering home improvements. Charlie will share tips on removing unhealthy conditions that compromise our health and immune system. He will discuss the proper maintenance of a healthy environment as well as the risks involved when maintenance is ignored.

Charlie and his wife were named "Businessperson's of the Year" 2002, by the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce. Charlie has resided in Stockton for over fifteen years.

Service: Breast Cancer Self Examination. There will be "molds" of breast tissue on-site to actually feel what we're supposed to be looking for when we give ourselves a breast exam. A mold will also be provided for cervical cancer screening. You can also pick up pamphlets with information on the correct way to give yourself a breast exam.

From Pershing Ave., go West on March Lane to Venezia Blvd. Turn left on Grand Canal. See the Radisson on the right.

From I-5, take the March Lane Exit and go East. Turn right at the first light, which is Da Vinci Dr.. Take the first left, which is Grand Canal and go 1 block to the Radisson Hotel.

From Highway 99, take the crosstown freeway (Hwy 4 West) to I-5 North, then take the March Lane exit and follow the above directions.
