SWN February 2nd Program

In her two most recent books, Wear More Cashmere and The Martini Diet, Gin Sander turns her attention from business and finance to a new subject matter: healthy indulgence.

In Wear More Cashmere Gin encourages you to take matters into your own hands and create serenity – moments in your life when you feel special and enjoy the pampering we would all benefit from. How would we benefit? Personally, I think we’d all be happier, less frazzled people. It’s a way of building up the inner reverves that make us able to “do life” well – and all that that entails with family, career, volunteer responsibilities, etc.... We need to purposefully replenish ourselves – to “sharpen the saw”, as the Franklin Covey company puts it – in order to make our contribution to the world. I’d say it’s common sense – just good business. And besides, we are worthy. We need to take good care of ourselves.

Why can’t a diet be enjoyable? Gin shows us how a food snob (the higher you hold your nose in the air, the smaller your behind will be) can tackle a diet effortlessly, dining on wine, chocolate, and filet mignon. She says to eat the best food, and the best is the freshest, highest quality foods you can find and afford. In The Martini Diet she advocates eating wholesome, unprocessed fare and less of it. Picture what a martini glass holds for portion control. Balance indulgence with restraint.

She advises us to avoid what she calls ghastly and tacky foods (i.e., ramen noodles and chicken nuggets) and why – they frequently contain trans fats, high fructose corn syrup, etc. Even those whose weight is under control will benefit from her healthful advice.

You’ll like Gin Sander and love her take on the topic of healthy lifestyle. See you on February 2! Remember, share the wealth. Invite a guest.
